‘School Lunch Menu’ Family BLOG

By upperharbour

Hi everyone

This BLOG is for children and parents to add to. Last year we updated our school lunch menu with the new healthier options. It means we can only sell healthier food items for school lunches. We are committed to still using the NZ Food & Beverage Classification System.

The New Zealand Food and Beverage Classification System is based on a three-tiered approach, identifying foods and beverages that can be eaten:

• EVERY DAY: appropriate for everyday consumption and to be promoted;

• SOMETIMES: for restricted provision by schools (for example, restricted serving size);

• OCCASIONALLY: not for provision (through sale or otherwise) by schools (other than for exceptional events).

Our school lunch menu now clearly indicates items in the EVERY DAY and SOMETIMES category. Any items that are deep fried fall into the OCCASIONALLY category and are therefore not allowed to be sold at school.
Do you have some YUMMY ideas of things we could add to our menu? Please add them to our BLOG.

    Hi!
    I would put Macoroni cheese and hotdogs on the school lunch menu
    because they are my favourite. I would also like to put ice cream in
    pots on the menu like my old school.
