Each week at Upper Harbour Primary School we introduce a new ‘craze’ game to play at playtimes at lunchtimes. The equipment is put out for a week and then the following week a brand new ‘craze’ is introduced. We’ve had all sorts of ‘craze’ equipment out so far, including hula hoops, frisbees, skipping ropes, gutter boards, hacky sacks……

Here’s your chance to suggest a ‘craze’ we could have in Term Three. What do you reckon?

So many fantastic poems have been written by Upper Harbour pupils that we thought we’d give a chance for budding poets to publish their poetry online. Simply retype your poem here and the world will see it on our Blog.

All poems remain the property of the writers and may not reproduced without their permission.

‘School Lunch Menu’ Family BLOG

May 16, 2008 by upperharbour

Hi everyone

This BLOG is for children and parents to add to. We have just updated our school lunch menu with the new Food & Beverage Classifications. It means we can only sell healthier food items for school lunches.

The New Zealand Food and Beverage Classification System is based on a three-tiered approach, identifying foods and beverages that can be eaten:

• EVERY DAY: appropriate for everyday consumption and to be promoted;

• SOMETIMES: for restricted provision by schools (for example, restricted serving size);

• OCCASIONALLY: not for provision (through sale or otherwise) by schools (other than for exceptional events).

Our school lunch menu now clearly indicates items in the EVERY DAY and SOMETIMES category. Any items that are deep fried fall into the OCCASIONALLY category and are therefore not allowed to be sold at school.
Do you have some YUMMY ideas of things we could add to our menu? Please add them to our BLOG.

‘School In 100 Years’ Children’s BLOG

April 23, 2008 by upperharbour

Hi there! Thank you for coming back to our Blog. If you have added comments to our last few Blog topics, we are proud of you!

Now, for something really different……..

WHAT WILL SCHOOL BE LIKE IN 100 YEARS?

Use your imagination and think about what school might be like in 100 years from now. How will children learn things in the future? Will schools exist? Will teachers exist? What things would people need to learn?

Be creative. Go crazy with ideas!
